Description
No information is given as to fixation time and quality. However, the presence of mercuric chloride, chromium trioxide and potassium dichromate indicates that fixation should be fairly rapid, perhaps with some avidity for acid dyes. Nuclear staining may be diminished due to the chromium trioxide content.
Ruffini also suggested a modification to this fixative containing 3 mL acetic acid instead of 12.
Safety Note
Prior to handling any chemical, consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for proper handling and safety precautions.
