Iodine green is closely related to methyl green and ethyl green, but has one more methyl group than methyl green. It is not commonly used in human histotechnology, but may have similar staining characteristics to its relatives. Lillie notes that it has been used for staining chromatin and that it stains amyloid red.
Compare this dye to methyl green.
